Aims and objectives |
The aims and objectives of the
New Shamwari Project are
as follows:
To support the integration into UK society of people
with refugee status and people seeking asylum by:
1 Helping people to
participate more fully in society, by
providing information, guidance and support, training,
language skills, advocacy and
other appropriate services.
2 Providing, and helping
find, education, training, skills and English-language
support.
3 Helping people into
work.
4 Helping and
encouraging people to enjoy recreation and leisure services
and facilities
5 Relieving hardship
(financial and otherwise) amongst people with refugee status
and people seeking asylum (and their dependants).
6 Helping the public and
agencies understand issues relating to asylum. |
Our Objective
With our support, our clients become
better able to:
• Use their
skills & knowledge to become socially and economically
active citizens
• Acquire
additional skills and knowledge (including competence in the
English language) to improve their chances of becoming
socially and economically active citizens.
• Access the
rights and opportunities to which they are entitled
• Fulfill
their obligations and responsibilities
• Manage and
control their own destiny
